Project Officer (Environmental Education)

Location: Iver Environment Centre (IEC), Slough Road, Iver Heath SL0 0EB, the Elsdale II floating Classroom currently moored at Greenford Quay UB6 0FP and Denham Country Park, Denham Court Drive, Denham, Uxbridge, UB9 5PG
Contract: Permanent (annualised or zero hours also available)
Salary: Circa £24,785 per annum
Hours: 22.5 -37.5 hours a week including regular weekend work

Summary of role: Come and join our successful team at Iver Environment Centre. IEC is located within a stunning 2.5-acre rural site between Slough and Uxbridge. Though only a mile from Uxbridge underground station and on the number 3 bus route from Slough, our centre is a refuge from everyday life. With beehives, several dipping ponds a mosaic of habitats, attractive gathering spaces and a fabulous play area, we are the perfect place to share your enthusiasm for the outdoors. Iver Environment Centre connects people to nature through school visits from predominantly primary aged children (4-11 years) along with family fun days, drop off holiday activities for children and activities for community groups.

We are looking for someone who is inspired by enthusing others, to join us as an Environmental Education Officer. The Environmental Education Officer will support with visiting school trips and deliver fun educational activities connecting families to nature at Iver Environment Centre (IEC) and elsewhere within Hillingdon, Ealing and Buckinghamshire. Along with our established team, the successful candidate will develop promote and deliver our ecology and bushcraft-based programme for schools. They will also work on our popular drop off activity days for children aged 7- 11/11-16 yrs and workshops engaging families with the outdoors through pond dipping, minibeast hunting, den building, fire lighting and lots of crafts.

The Environmental Education Officer will be enthusiastic, creative and committed, with previous experience of working with children (a variety of settings will be considered) and an interest in the natural world. You should be a good communicator with excellent organisational and time management skills. In return you will receive training and networking opportunities including accredited qualifications in first aid and food hygiene.

Flexible working hours will be considered, though this role is NOT suitable for a term time only contract.
